Kings Island nominated for Best Theme Park in the country

North America is home to more than 400 amusement parks and attractions, and USA TODAY is looking for the top one.

For those looking to plan the perfect vacation, trying to pick which park to visit can be overwhelming. To help narrow down the options, 10Best asked a panel of amusement park and family travel experts to nominate their 20 favorite parks across the United States. 

Kings Island, beginning its 52nd season this year, is among the 20 amusement parks in the running on the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice 2023 poll.

USA Today cited Kings Island's more than 100 rides, shows and attractions, including 15 roller coasters. The 364-acre amusement and water park has something for everyone, from thrilling roller coasters to water rides and family attractions. Some of the park's most popular attractions include Orion, a steel roller coaster that features a first drop of 300 feet and reaches speeds up to 91 mph. Other thrill coasters include The Beast, which is the world's longest wooden roller coaster at 7,361 feet, and the award-winning Mystic Timbers. 

For those who prefer water rides, Kings Island has several options, including Soak City Water Park, which is included with admission to the main park. Here, you can enjoy a lazy river, two wave pools, and several high-speed water slides, such as Tropical Plunge. 

Besides the rides, Kings Island offers a range of live shows and entertainment options. The park is also home to seasonal events, such as Halloween Haunt in the fall and WinterFest during the holiday season.
