Kings Island keeps the classic amusement park tradition alive with midway games and prizes

When you think of amusement parks, one thing that comes to mind almost immediately are the midways. The term “midway” actually came from as far back as 1893, where at the World’s Columbian Exposition a separate area on Chicago’s Midway Plaisance dedicated to amusements was featured, something not yet done at a world’s fair.
The Coney Mall section at Kings Island is dedicated to that old-fashioned midway with games, food, rides and candy all mainstays of that memorable summer tradition. After all, this section of the park was designed to take after Cincinnati’s Coney Island, the predecessor to Kings Island.
One of those popular midway games at Kings Island is called Goblet Toss. You’re given a certain amount of balls to throw to try to land them into goblet cups. The goal is to try to land them into the colored goblets; if you land one in blue, you get a small prize, medium prize in green, and a large or winner’s choice in pink. Players also have the ability to trade up six smalls for one medium prize.
A new large prize has appeared on the midway this week – an oversized stuffed Kings Island 50th anniversary pillow. This is an item you won’t be able to buy in stores throughout the park or at the online store. You must be able to land your ball in one of the pink goblets to win one of these exclusive items.
If you’re not skilled at games (and I’m not), don’t worry – this game is for everyone! Best of all, you get a small prize every time you play so you won’t be leaving the game empty handed.
