Hello, Kings Island foodie fans! The start of our 2022 season is just around the corner and one of the things we’re really excited about is the Sweet Spot on International Street.

Last year we added our pastry chef, Belen Caire. She and her team have outgrown where they’ve been working so what better place to showcase her talents than the Sweet Spot on International Street. Our guests can come in and watch the making of our desserts from start to finish. Not only will you be able to get these desserts at many of your favorite restaurants around the park, but you will also now be able to enjoy these treats at Sweet Spot. All our desserts will be made from scratch. If you walk into Sweet Spot at any given time, you’re going to see how the desserts are made and observe the talented team making these wonderful treats in action.

Among the things we’re really excited about this year is helping our guest celebrate birthdays. A lot of people come to Kings Island to celebrate their birthday, and then they’re like “How am I supposed to bring a birthday cake in the park for my kids?” Well, congratulations? You can come to the park now and we’ll have a birthday cake available for you. You’ll be able to choose either a fully decorated chocolate or vanilla cake and we’ll even put Happy Birthday on it for you. It feeds four to six people and you’re good to go. We’ll even give you the plates and all the stuff you need.

On top of our apples, in addition to caramel and fudge we’re also going to be doing some with more of a gourmet twist. We’re going to be doing different types of candy – bon bons, chocolates, parfaits. We’ll be doing different cupcakes, especially coming into our 50th anniversary this year. Cupcakes Over the Decade is what we’re calling it on top of all the other things Belen and her team will be doing.

Decorated cookies is something else we’re excited about. We found a couple talented ladies that do this and love it but just want to do it more in a volume, so we’re going to bring them in.

When guests come through Sweet Spot, it’s almost like another piece of entertainment. Everybody loves watching what’s going on. Constantly you’re going to get to see something happening in the Sweet Spot outside of watching the fudge being made. We will still have the fudge production of course. That isn’t going anywhere. We are actually moving this to the front window where you can watch that happen as well.

The idea is everyone loves food, and they want to see what’s going on. It’s the reason now when we build a new restaurant that we have windows so you can wee what the chefs are doing in locations like Coney Bar B Que or in the Island Smokehouse in Soak City. You can actually see what’s being cooked, and people love that. So what we’re doing with Sweet Spot is just another way of interacting with our guests. I consider this the new restaurant for 2022. We’re really proud of what we have planned for it.

I think about the amount of energy we have put into the dining experience from where we were four years ago to where we are now coming into my fifth season at Kings Island. I can’t wait! We make leaps and bounds every year. There’s a lot of sweet surprises coming to the Sweet Spot this year.
