Couple returns to Kings Island for 50th wedding anniversary

Congratulations to Dale and Barbara White, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by returning to Kings Island and staying at Kings Island Camp Cedar this week.
The couple was married at a small church in Lebanon, Ohio in June 1972. After a meal with their friends at the Golden Lamb restaurant, they made their way to the just-opened Kings Island amusement park just a few miles away. When they arrived, they didn’t head to The Racer for a quick ride, or head to the top of the Eiffel Tower to enjoy the view. It was at Kings Island where they first called their parents to let them know the exciting news of their marriage.
“We entered the park and proceeded to the payphones,” Dale recalls. “(It) was 20-plus years before cellphones. We called our parents to tell them the good news…”
And then they enjoyed everything the park had to offer, including what’s become a Kings Island tradition.
“(We) then enjoyed the next eight or so hours that culminated with fireworks at the park.”
The couple spent their honeymoon camping at Kings Island in their new Midas Mini-Motorhome. That was just the start of their 50-year (so far) journey together which includes cross country motor home adventures and the birth of their two children, Amye and Jason.
“From there we celebrated many anniversaries work, birthdays, more traveling, but I never forgot what brought these beautiful celebrations to my life - every minute, hour and year I celebrate my love and anniversary with Barbara.”
This weekend the couple returned to Kings Island to celebrate their anniversary. Their kids arranged for a stay at Kings Island Camp Cedar and a visit to Kings Island, in honor of their honeymoon so many years earlier. Congratulations Dale and Barbara, and thank you for including Kings Island in your story.
