10 ways to beat the summer heat at Kings Island
June 15, 2022

Summer weather in southwest Ohio goes hand-in-hand with a great Kings Island experience. When temperatures climb into the 90’s, as they often do until late August, it can feel hotter than it actually is – dangerously hotter.
There are plenty of ways to beat the heat if you find yourself at the 364-acre amusement and water park on a hot and humid day. Here are 10 recommendations to help keep you cool as a cucumber during your visit:
- Wear Sunscreen. Don’t make the mistake of thinking if you’re not going to be visiting Soak City Water Park, you won’t need it. Sun protection is very important, especially for small children.
- Wear a hat. Be sure to secure it while riding!
- Stay hydrated by drink plenty of fluids, especially water. There are many water fountains available throuhgout the park. Juices and carbonated drinks can actually add to the problem.
- Avoid long lines in the middle of the day.
- Get out of the sun by catching an indoor show in the air-conditioned Kings Island Theater or another indoor venue when the sun is at its fiercest.
- Get wet with a cool splash from a water attraction in the main park or by spending time in Soak City Water Park.
- Wear clothing that breathes. Cotton is a great choice and athletic clothing works well, but you’ll want to avoid polyester fabrics.
- Eat light meals. Smaller and more frequent meals are better than one or two heavy ones.
- Take frequent breaks.
- Above all else, protect yourself by acting smart and making the right choices. Listen to your body and be aware of the extra sensitivity children have to the heat.
If you are at the park and need assistance because you are feeling ill, stop any associate and they will be able to get in touch with First Aid to assist you.
We hope these recommendations will help keep you cool during your visit to Kings Island.
