5 things you may not know about TImberwolf Amphitheatre

Just in time for Kings Island’s 50th anniversary season, the park has announced a five concert series that kicks off on June 28 with the Avett Brothers. The packed line-up will set the soundtrack for the amusements park’s summer with performances also from Berlin & A Flock Of Seagulls, 3 Doors Down, Candlebox, Skillet, Five For Fighting and The Verve Pipe.

For many years Timberwolf Amphitheatre played host to the biggest names of rock, pop, country and Christian music. Here are five things you may not know about Timberwolf Amphitheatre:
- Timberwolf Amphitheatre is located in the Action Zone area of the park. It is an outdoor concert venue with a 10,000 seat capacity that first opened in 1982.
- The venue’s rich music history kicked off on July 9, 1982 with the soft-rock group, Air Supply.
- Many people do not know that Jimmy Buffet’s famous term “Parrothead” was actually coined at Timberwolf during his concert on June 28, 1985.
- Timberwolf played host to the Christian Music Festival, “SpiritSong” for more than 25 years.
- In the 1980’s, park guests who didn’t have concert tickets used to wait in line for the Screamin’ Demon, a single loop roller coaster located near the venue, so they could catch a glimpse of the band and enjoy the music. That ride was removed in 1987.
