The repainting of the Eiffel Tower is complete as we prepare for Kings Island’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2022.

To complete the project, which began in August, Newport, KY-based Baynum Painting used over 20,000 square feet of plastic to protect the surrounding area from drips and spatters during the process.

It took more than a dozen painters to clean, scrape, prime and finish painting the entire attraction, which included removing four, 55-gallon drums of debris and old paint from the structure prior to beginning priming. Over 250 rollers and brushes were used to apply the epoxy primer and more than 1,500 gallons of epoxy primer and finish paint to complete the entire structure.

When the project began, it took a painter more than 12 minutes to climb the 410 steps to the top deck of the Eiffel Tower. By the time the project was completed 12 weeks later, they were able to make it up to the top in under eight minutes.

The color is the same as it had previously been, “Eiffel Tower Green.”

This marks the third time that Baynum Painting has repainted the Eiffel Tower since 1989.

Elsewhere in the park as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration, six other attractions will be repainted before the start of the 2022 season. These attractions include The Racer, Race for Your Life Charlie Brown, Adventure Express, Backlot Stunt Coaster (completed), Drop Tower (in-progress) and Flying Ace Aerial Chase (completed).
