Happy National Blue Ice Cream Day!

Guess what day it is? It’s National Blue Ice Cream Day!
Well, at least at Kings Island.
A blueberry soft-serve ice cream was introduced by Kings Island in 1982 and was an immediate hit. Like many of the park’s iconic attractions, blue ice cream has gone on to become multi-generational. Parents who ate it as a child are now sharing it with their children; grandparents who had it with their kids now enjoy it with their grandkids.
Blue ice cream is so popular that its impact has gone beyond Kings Island’s borders. Though others in and outside of Cincinnati have tried to sell blue ice cream, it’s clear that it belongs to Kings Island. Other amusement and theme parks have tried selling blue ice cream with minimal success, while Kings Island continues to sell literally hundreds of cones and bowls each day.
Because blue ice cream is a staple part of Kings Island’s history and entrenched as a part of Cincinnati culture, July 1 was designated as National Blue Ice Cream Day. It’s as much a part of what guests look forward to and want to experience when they visit Kings Island as a ride on The Beast.
