For roller coaster enthusiasts, there are two things that separate spring from the rest of the year.

At the top of the list is once spring hits, that means amusement and theme parks across North America are opening for the season, which is a good thing.

Spring also means Coasterstock, which is even better.

Hundreds of roller coaster aficionados from 25 states and Canada are expected to gather at Kings Island this weekend to attend the fifth annual Coasterstock to share stories of their experiences riding roller coasters around the world.

The two-day event begins Friday morning and runs through Saturday night at the 364-acre amusement and water park.

The attendees will be offered exclusive rides morning and night on some of the park’s most popular roller coasters, including The Beast, Banshee, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, The Racer and Vortex, and behind-the-scenes photo and video opportunities.

Catered meals during the event include a lunch on Friday (Burgers, Italian Sausage and Peppers, Mac and Cheese, Cole Slaw, Fruit Salad, Chocolate Chips and Brownies) and a dinner with trophy presentations for contest winners on Saturday (Roasted Chicken, Coney BBQ Smoked Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce, Pasta Salad, Country Green Beans, Roasted Potatoes with Parmesan, Fruit Salad, Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches).

Guest speakers include Jeff Gramke, Kings Island’s manager of facilities, engineering and construction and a co-designer of The Beast; Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services, Inc. and Mike Koontz, Kings Island’s vice-president and general manager.

Follow all of the fun attendees are having this weekend on social media using the hashtag #Coasterstock2019.
