If you’ve been to Kings Island before, you’ve likely passed underneath one of the biggest beer steins you’ve ever seen. It’s fitting that it’s located above the pretzel shop near the entrance to the Oktoberfest area of the park. And, at 4 feet tall, 42 inches across, it would satisfy any beer fan, holding more than 150 gallons of beer. *Always drink responsibly!
With the park’s offseason improvements to International Street, our maintenance team saw the perfect opportunity to refurbish the infamous stein. From repairing the fiberglass, sanding it down and completely repainting the artwork, it’s estimated that nearly 40 hours of care went into bringing it back to life. Artwork has been subtly updated, and the paint has been sealed so that it will look new for many years to come.
Care and passion went into refurbishing this beer stein. Just like it did with each of the 130,000 new pavers that were installed on International Street. The same goes for each of The Beast’s footprints that were painted to lead the way to the world’s longest wooden roller coaster, and the many other ways that we’ve been getting ready for Opening Day.
We did all this with one goal, to help you see the park like you haven’t seen it in decades. Welcome to the 2019 season- we hope you enjoy your visit.
