As many of our Kings Island Blog readers know, WinterFest was among the 20 parks nominated by a panel of USA TODAY Theme Park industry experts as one of the best theme park holiday events in the country. With just one year under our belts, it was an incredible honor to be nominated, which was a direct result of all of the hard work and dedication it took from so many people to transform the park into a magical event that has quickly become a new holiday tradition for families.
Over several weeks, from mid-November through December 10, USA Today readers voted in this hotly contested readers’ choice poll. Over the course of the contest, Kings Island rose and fell daily in the rankings until the results were hidden in the final days of voting.
The final results were officially revealed today. While Kings Island did not win the contest, the park did finish as the runner-up. We’re proud of everyone involved for making WinterFest such a special event and a place for families to make memories.
Below is what some industry experts said about Kings Island’s recognition in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice poll for Best Theme Park Holiday Event:
Theme Park Insider – Robert Niles (Editor)
"Kings Island's success in the 10Best.com USA Today Best Theme Park Holiday Event poll speaks to the love that so many fans feel toward the park and its WinterFest. Fans don't show this level of support without a reason, and Kings Island has given them a big reason with WinterFest."
Theme Park Review – Robb Alvey (Owner, Editor, Webmaster)
“It is fantastic to see King Island's Winterfest take the #2 spot in the 10Best Holiday Event Poll. This is quite an accomplishment for the event only being in its second year and it most certainly proves it is in good company with some of the country's best holiday offerings. Congrats to Kings Island!"
Lyn Mettler – National Travel Writer for GotoTravelGal.com
"I grew up going to King's Island every summer from my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky, and while it brings fond memories of years past, it still remains a great place today for kids and families. It doesn't surprise me that the Ohio amusement park ranked No. 2 for best theme park holiday event despite WinterFest only in its second season, as it's already become a wonderful holiday tradition with ice skating, holiday shows, and, of course, who can resist the park's classic Eiffel Tower covered in Christmas lights?"
