Homegrown plants and flowers decorate Kings Island

You might not know who Ivan Booth is, but you’ve definitely seen his work around Kings Island. Ivan is the Greenhouse Manager at the park, and is responsible for growing all of the flowers and some of the park’s most iconic landmarks. These include the Liberty Bell, which is made up of around 16-20,000 plants, the Eiffel Tower with 10,000 and the famous clock and date bed which have about 30,000 plants. Ivan has had a passion for plants since high school, so it seemed fitting that he would work as a horticulturist, “Working in landscaping or horticulture, I really enjoyed it all through high school,” he said. “I enjoyed experimenting with plants to see if I could get them to root or whatever. I went to Eastern Kentucky University, and I majored in ornamental horticulture there, and I just found that I really liked that feel. It’s my passion and pretty much my hobby.”

You can find Ivan out early in the morning working and making sure that all of the plants at the park continue to look pristine. Don’t be shy about asking him questions. He says he loves answering guest’s questions about the varieties of plants that the park has and that he cares for.
