A Walk in the Park at Kings Island: Intro to Grand Carnivale

This is not a drill! Grand Carnivale starts tomorrow (June 15)! After seeing the photo shoot, I have no doubt in my mind that it will be a huge hit. Just the costumes and amazing food were enough to make my jaw drop. Now let’s move on to a fun anecdote. Last week I mentioned that WITP would be doing a few vlog segments. My idea was to kick it off with a video of Eric and I doing the Slingshot for the first time. He had mentioned to me that he really wanted to try it, so I’ve been prepping myself and of course have asked Don Helbig for any riding tips that could be helpful. On Monday, I presented my idea to Eric, hoping for an excited reaction. Instead I got, “Wait, you’re actually going to do it?” Oh, how the tables have turned. Now I’m convincing him to ride it when he would usually be the one having to convince me. No date has been set for when we’ll be catapulting into the sky, but I think it’s better that way. A spontaneous Slingshot ride doesn’t sound as daunting as a scheduled Slingshot ride.

It’s time for the candle scent of the week! I’ve been thinking about this one for a while, so I figure what better time than this week’s blog to share it. “White Water Canyon” a wisteria scented candle so guests can reminisce about waiting in line for this timeless water ride under a canopy of this fresh and sweet smelling plant. I’m thinking lavender or periwinkle would be great colors for this candle.

Also can we talk about how cool it would be to have a wedding at Kings Island? Wedding season is here, I just watched one of my best friends get married last weekend and I remembered this really nice couple that I met at Coasterstock, who said their “I do’s” on their favorite roller coaster. First off, just imagine the wedding pictures. That alone would be enough for me to say “Let’s book it!” I’ve done a little research and it looks like Knott’s Berry Farm does weddings at Knott’s Hotel. The pictures are really stunning, but I’m trying to look through the eyes of a couple that wants to have an unconventional wedding. Me personally if I were doing my wedding at Kings Island, I’d be saying my vows in the front row of Banshee with my shoulder harness on and my veil pinned securely in my hair with our wedding party behind us. Nothing says everlasting love quite like hearing the Banshee’s scream of doom right before you plunge into forever in your wedding frock. What are your thoughts? Know of any coaster enthusiasts that would get married on their favorite coaster?

Also, I’m craving a day in the park soon, the weather has been ridiculously nice out. Plus there are plenty of rides that I still need to experience! My list is getting longer by the week, with Flight of Fear, The Bat, and Adventure Express taking priority as well as The Racer on a sunny day. White Water Canyon, Drop Tower and Slingshot are also on the list and of course Soak City! After all that excitement I will definitely need to take a spin on Whirlybirds or the train to wind down.

Back to Grand Carnivale! Eric and I will be going more than once to experience everything there is, especially the food. Have you bought your food tasting card yet? Check out the menu! I’ve decided Eric and I need two cards so we can try almost everything. The International Restaurant is opening its doors for even more food with Grand Carnivale: Feast of Nations, here are all the details. Tell them Natalie sent you. They’ll probably just look at you funny but that’s okay. Remember if you want to check out the Spectacle of Color Parade, which you will, trust me, it starts at 8:00pm each night during Grand Carnivale in Coney Mall near the Zephyr and will make its way around International Street.

Gosh, is that it for the week? It doesn’t seem possible. Tomorrow is going to be wild and I’m excited for it! See y’all on the next one and thanks for joining me on my walk in the park!
