Explore the universe with Gravity

Come along on an amazing journey as you join the astronauts from Kings Island and explore a new planet. You soon realize you are not alone. There are aliens inhabiting this new planet! Watch and be amazed as the story of Gravity unfolds. No really, Gravity actually unfolds to reveal a two-sided ramp and then the fun really begins. Our astronauts make several discoveries while on their voyage. One, that there is gravity and two, they are not alone. All too soon, our voyagers are surrounded by a group of colorful aliens. You won’t want to miss this amazing cirque show. From tumbling, juggling, hula hooping and BMX-ing, there is no shortage of thrills in this show.

We had a chance to catch up with one of the main characters of the show, Ariane, who I’ll refer to as the Queen alien. Ariane has been performing since she was 15, where her first job was being a clown. She is completely self-taught, with some of her moves and tricks she learned by watching videos online.

Getting to see her in her show makeup up close and personal and after hearing that it takes up to an hour to have her makeup done demonstrates just how much goes into this performance. Not only does the makeup take an hour, so does one of the most important parts for our performers: stretching.

According to Ariane, the performers, or at least the tumblers spend an hour stretching before every show.  With three shows each day throughout the week with the exception of Saturday, when there are four, that’s over 20 hours a week on stretching!

Gravity has a huge fan base and the performers love it. “We are super thrilled to have fans and they kind of challenge us to improve the show,” said Ariane. “It’s a show that’s normally meant to be seen once, but some of them have seen it a hundred times, so it’s exciting to try to surprise them and they’re familiar faces in the crowd.”

Check out our video to see what our Queen alien, Ariane, had to say about working with her colleagues and how long rehearsals took for this out of this world cirque show! Be sure to check out Gravity at the Kings Island Theater which runs until August 18, click here for dates and times.
