A Walk in the Park at Kings Island: Shifting Winds

It’s always sad to see things end. Goodbye Grand Carnivale, until we meet again. Goodbye to the Spectacle of Color parade with the amazing performers and catchy song. Goodbye to the spare ribs and cannolis. Farewell to the Chinese Donuts I didn’t get to try and the Vegetable Samosas. Also can’t forget the Baja Banana and Apple Strudel.

Goodbye to Grand Carnivale and hello to Halloween Haunt! Yes, believe it or not it’s already time to start decorating for one of my favorite holidays. From going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin, the candy, scary movies, costumes, candles, ghouls and goblins, it is time switch gears from summer into autumn. Speaking of candles, another one of my favorite smells when I’m in the park is when I pass by Auntie Anne’s. That smell is so enticing, I’d buy all those candles. Looking for extra fun this Halloween season? Check out this blog and see how you can become part of Halloween Haunt. Maybe you’re like me and you prefer to scare rather than be scared. If you’re really looking ahead, Kings Island is also holding auditions for WinterFest starting this month. Even though it’s the beginning of July, I’m being pulled into the autumn season early with all this talk about Haunt. Maybe it’s time to break out my fall candles..

Enough about the future, let’s talk about the past for a quick second. How was everyone’s Fourth of July? Hopefully you were able to come out and enjoy the fireworks show with us! Also random side note. It never fails, but almost every time I’m in the park, either while I’m working or here as a guest, I see someone wearing a Jaws tank top/t-shirt. Where are you people getting them? Tell me your secrets!

Okay back to the present. It’s finally Friday and Island Nights is happening! ALSO got to meet one of the amazing performers from Gravity yesterday. I got to interview the “Queen Alien” herself, Ariane. She was so sweet and great to talk to. That blog will be up soon, so stay tuned!

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a sucker for quirky things. Whether it be quirky trinkets, or attractions, I love discovering them and reading about them. My quirky find of the week? The Singing Mushrooms at Kings Dominion! While I’ve never been to this sister amusement park of Kings Island, I was lucky to catch a video of the mushrooms in action thanks to Coaster Nation. Now I’m hooked and I need some details! Why singing mushrooms? Was Kings Dominion going for an Alice in Wonderland vibe? What’s the frog’s story and how did he get to be the pianist for these singing fungi? If anyone knows the full story, I’d love to hear about it! When is Kings Island getting a quartet of beavers that work in the lumber yard over by Mystic Timbers?

I’d say that wraps it up for this week, but where are all the pictures? Plot twist, that’s the only one. See y’all on the next one!
