Next week will be a memorable one for our Orion project team. They’ll be going vertical with the first of 181 ride columns and 148 pieces of track.
The vertical phase will begin with columns and track going up in the train storage, transfer and station sections of the ride.
Every time you visit Kings Island in the fall, you will get an opportunity to see the construction progress. A ride on The Racer and WindSeeker will give you the two best vantage points.
Opening spring 2020, Orion will be one of only seven giga coasters in the world, a class of roller coasters having a height or drop of 300-399 feet.
Riders on Orion will plummet down an exhilarating 300-foot drop before sending them on a high-speed journey over seven more hills at speeds up to 91 mph on the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Kings Island, and the longest steel at 5,321 feet.
Can’t wait until spring to experience Orion? Take a virtual ride now!
