Readers' Mailbag: Why are the supports on Diamondback different colors?

You have questions about Kings Island. I have answers.

Wait. We’ve done this before. You know how it works. You submit your questions for possible inclusion in a future Readers’ Mailbag feature.

Remember, the more insightful and entertaining your questions are opposed to speculation questions (“Will you ever..:?”), the more likely they are to be answered.

Hi Don! Has the idea been brought up about having the FunPix photographers stationed throughout the park? For example having one at the inflatable snow globe during Winterfest. During Haunt have them in some of the scare zones or at some of the great photo areas of the park. It would be nice to have a photo in the snow globe with the whole family. And have more family photos at the park other than coming into the park under the main gate getting photo bombed by several hundred people. Thanks – Dave F., Goshen, OH

Dave, thanks for the FunPix photographer suggestions. We have had photogrpahers stationed throughout the park. However, in the past this has not been at regular spots and regular intervals. We are looking at establishing this better this year so we can direct guests where and when these photographers will be on a given day.

Why are the supports on Diamondback different colors? – Tom G., West Chester, OH

When we looked at the layout and design of the ride, since it was our tallest roller coaster, we wanted to call attention to the two highest points on the ride with the 230-foot tall lift hill and 193-foot tall second hill, which have the yellow supports while the rest of the supports along the 5,282-foot long course are tan.

I've always been curious about the building that houses Wolf Pack, since it is so visible year-round. During the regular season, how many (if any) of the special effects and scare elements are left inside the buildings that house scare mazes such as Wolf Pack and Blackout? – Adrian W., Berea, KY

The scare props remain in place in each of the indoor mazes during the spring and summer seasons. Our Halloween Haunt install team begins work on the indoor mazes in the summer and will repair or replace the props as needed.

Are service animals allowed at Kings Island? – Beth Ann G., Columbus, OH

Great question! Service animals are welcome. A service animal is defined as a dog or miniature pony that has been individually trained to perform tasks for a person with disabilities. Service animals must be controlled with a restraining device and must display appropriate behavior at all times while on our property. There is a limit of one service animal per guest.

When is the last day to get tickets for Coasterstock? I'm a member of CoasterBuzz Club and thinking about doing it this year. – Tom T., Cleveland, OH

Thank you for your interest in participating in the fifth annual Coasterstock event May 17-18. You'll have so much fun if you attend. Ticket sales will end May 6 or earlier should capacity for the event be reached. There would not be much, if any, notice when capacity is about to be reached so I would suggest getting your Coastertock ticket soon.
