Construction activity begins at Kings Mills Antique Autos ride site

Don Helbig

Area Manager, Digital Marketing - Kings Island

Construction crews have been at the planned location of the new Kings Mills Antique Autos this week, prepping the site for the return of the classic and nostalgic antique car ride opening spring 2019.

The site preparation work includes the removal of the Peach Basket game stand and Coca-Cola Refill station building, grading and grubbing, leveling the ground and relocating utilities on the site.

Under Kings Island’s construction timeline, construction crews are expected to have the land cleared and ready for the park to begin constructing the ride by late September.

The entrance and station for the Kings Mills Antique Autos will be built in the area where the Peach Basket was located. Guests will board replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T and “steer” them along a quarter-mile long scenic track.

The Kings Mills Antique Autos will be similar to the original Les Taxis car ride, which gave over 22.5 million rides during its years of operation from 1972-2004 at Kings Island.
