Cool fall temperatures make it hard to think about spring, but that's exactly what construction crews at Kings Island have been doing this month. Demolition in the Coney Mall section of the park has been completed to make way for the start of construction on the new Kings Mills Antique Autos ride opening spring 2019.

To make room for the Kings Mills Antique Autos, crews demolished the former Flight Commander ride pad, removing concrete that was more than 10 feet deep! The entrance to the former Dinosaurs Alive! attraction, the Peach Basket game in the Coney Mall midway near the entrance to the Vortex roller coaster and a concession stand located next to the building used for the KillMart maze at Halloween Haunt have also been removed.

Guests riding the King MIlls Antique Autos will board two-third scale replica 1911 Ford Model Ts that will travel along a quarter-mile long track. The leisurely drive will last approximately three minutes. Though new, the Kings Mills Antique Autos will retain the vintage feel of the original antique cars,  Les Taxis, which operated at Kings Island from 1972 to 2004 and gave over 22.5 million rides. Here's a look at the plans of the track layout for the ride.

Kings Island guests can check out the construction progress themselves over the next two weekends (Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28) while visiting the park to experience Halloween Haunt and The Great Pumpkin Fest.
