5 types of roller coaster riders

Kelly Obbie

Welcome to the Kings Island safari! On this journey we’ll take you through all the fantastic creatures you may encounter as you ride our record-breaking roller coasters like Banshee, The Beast and Mystic Timbers. Read carefully!

The screamer

Whether it’s a Vortex loop or a smooth Whirlybird journey, this creature always seems to let out screeches that would make even a banshee cover her ears. While the screamer may appear threatening upon hearing their calls in the parking lot, do not fear them. You can always count on them to add to the anti and make your own ride more thrilling when that first hill hits. However, earplugs may be necessary during encounters.

The veteran

Express extreme caution when approaching this creature. Close encounters may result in learning all of the facts about when this coaster was built and what type of metal went into the support beams. They know every twist and turn of the ride, and they aren’t afraid to let you and all of their Facebook friends know it. With experience comes tranquility, and they rarely appear threatened by any coaster. Due to their subdued nature, researchers are undecided on whether they’re having a good time or not, but evidence points to yes since they just got back in line for the fifth time.

The talker

A sociable creature by nature, the talker HAS to let you know how their week went, and nothing will stop them from telling you, not even a 215-foot drop at a 74-degree. While encounters may result in dizziness from attempts to keep track of their stories and your own ride experience, these are loyal creatures that will be there for you through every twist and turn.

The OMGer

Not quite a screamer but not quite a talker, this animal has one thing and one thing only to say about this coaster: OH MY GOD! Tread lightly around them when exiting the ride, as sudden moves may lead to defensive retaliations and questions about why you “made them” get on that ride.

The bench warmer

An extremely docile and sociable creature, they’ll just sit this one out! You can find bench warmers cozying up to a good book in front of coaster exits, as they typically dislike venturing from their native Planet Snoopy. While bench warmers may occasionally be found on coasters, one should express caution around them in this situation, as the bench warmer’s Coney dog and cotton candy may reappear as a defense mechanism, spraying unsuspecting enemies and fellow herd members.

Keep this guide with you as a reference on your next visit. Remember, No matter which creature you encounter, it can’t ruin the thrilling experience of a Kings Island coaster. Happy riding!
