Halloween Haunt returns to Kings Island for 6 weekends

Roller coasters won’t be the only attractions conjuring up screams this fall at Kings Island.

Halloween Haunt comes screaming back to Kings Island this Friday, September 22.

Running every Friday and Saturday night through October 28, the 11th annual Halloween Haunt will feature 10 haunted mazes, three outdoor scare zones, three live stage shows and hundreds of assorted clowns, ghouls, vampires, werewolves and zombies lurking in the shadows throughout the park. In addition, more than 20 rides are open, including Banshee, Diamondback, The Beast and Mystic Timbers, recently voted “Best New Ride in 2017” by Amusement Today.

Two new scare zones debut this year: Dance of the Macabre and Wasteland.

Popular returning haunted attractions include: Backwoods Bayou, Blackout, Board to Death, CarnEvil, Field of Screams, KillMart, Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror, Slaughter House, Urgent Scare and Wolf Pack.

The live entertainment lineup features Blood Drums, a percussive blood bath of rhythm and music; Hot Blooded, a seductive after-life revue; and Monster Rock, which features the music of Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and others.

Tickets for Halloween Haunt are as low as $31.99 when purchased in advance online or Kings Island’s mobile app, which Android and iPhone users can download for free. Admission to the event is free for 2017 Gold and Platinum season passholders.

Guests looking to make the make of their night at Halloween Haunt can add Fright Lane to bypass waiting in line to experience each of the 10 haunted mazes once. The Skeleton Key, which is included with Fright Lane, unlocks a secret extra room inside five mazes: Backwoods Bayou, KillMart, Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror, Slaughter House and Urgent Scare. There’s also a standalone Skeleton Key room, The Viewing, which has evening services each night at Halloween Haunt.

For guests who may be a little hesitant to experience Halloween Haunt, Kings Island offers a "No-Boo" necklace. The monsters may still interact with the wearer of a No-Boo necklace, but won't attempt to scare them. A No-Boo necklace can be purchased at select locations throughout the park or online for $12 and makes for a great souvenir item. 

Parents, be advised. Halloween Haunt includes graphic scenes, suggestive themes and intense imagery and is intended for mature audiences. This event is not recommended for children. 

For families, the Great Pumpkin Fest, presented by the Hershey Company, is a kid-friendly daytime Halloween event that takes place from 12-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays beginning September 30 through October 29. The event features crafts, games, mini tractor races, a hay bale maze, foam pit, trick-or-treat stops, petting farm, kids' costume contest and meet-and-greet opportunities with the Peanuts gang.
