Beat the heat this summer with these fresh eats

Laura Manhardt

Like many of our treasured guests, Laura grew up coming to Kings Island and enjoying the sweet treats (Blue Ice Cream, anyone?) and fun times the park has to offer. Now, as a Social Media Coordinator for Kings Island, Laura strives to share the fresh perspective and classic character that make our park unique and keep guests like her coming back year after year.

Sometimes your Best Day Ever at Kings Island also happens to be the hottest day ever -- at least it feels that way. While we definitely recommend indulging in some cold Blue Ice Cream, odds are you’ll need a healthy pick-me-up during your visit. Here’s where to find the best health-conscious snacks during your visit!

LaRosa’s – International Street, Rivertown, and Festhaus

The best thing about LaRosa’s (besides their delicious pizza) is that they serve yummy fresh treats every day! At their Rivertown and International Street locations, you can find a Side Garden Salad or a cup of bright Strawberries. Both items are priced under $5.00, so you can fuel up with healthy snacks and keep your wallet full too!

Snoopy Snack Shack – Planet Snoopy

Planet Snoopy is famous for Blue Ice Cream, but they also have other yummy frozen treat options! Stop by the Snoopy Snack Shack, near the exit of Flying Ace Aerial Chase, to find a chilled Fruit Cup or Frozen Bananas! At just $3.99 each, these two options are perfect for little ones who need a quick and inexpensive healthy treat.

Festhaus – Oktoberfest and Action Zone

With air-conditioning, arcade games, and our live show “Back to the 90s,” Festhaus really has it all. However, Festhaus goes even more above and beyond by serving healthy food options! Two such options are the Side Garden Salad and Strawberries from the LaRosa’s menu. Festhaus also tosses up an Antipasto Salad (under $10.00!) that’ll make your taste buds jump for joy – and keep your stomach from doing so on one of our thrilling coasters.

Coca-Cola Marketplace – Coney Mall

Like the Snoopy Snack Shack, the Coca-Cola Marketplace has the healthy snacks you need to keep the good times rolling. Stop by between a ride on the Racer and a game of Ring Toss to pick up a Fruit Cup or Salad. Fill up your Souvenir Bottle while you’re at it, and you’ll be all set to get back on your way to the Best Day Ever!

Island Smokehouse – Soak City

Last, but certainly not least, is Soak City’s newest dining location: Island Smokehouse. Classic smoked meats such as wings and brisket are the most popular items here, but the Island Smokehouse also provides a plethora of salads, fruit cups, and healthier wraps to keep you feeling full and happy. Stop by any time during Soak City operating hours.

With these healthy choices, you can fuel yourself for a day of nonstop fun and games. Share your favorite healthy option with us in the comments below!

Hidden references in Kings Mills Antique Autos

When you bring the past back to the present, you should always bring extras and that’s exactly what Kings Island did with the Kings Mills Antique Autos. While retaining the original look of the Les Taxis ride which operated from 1972 to 2004, Kings Mills Antique Autos features many odes to past and present rides within the ride itself. Let’s start with the cars themselves. These four passenger autos are 2/3-scale replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T, obviously an ode to the original cars from Les Taxis.
