Scholarship awards presented to seasonal associates

Laura Manhardt

Like many of our treasured guests, Laura grew up coming to Kings Island and enjoying the sweet treats (Blue Ice Cream, anyone?) and fun times the park has to offer. Now, as a Social Media Coordinator for Kings Island, Laura strives to share the fresh perspective and classic character that make our park unique and keep guests like her coming back year after year.

In addition to sharing the fun and excitement of working at a world-class amusement park, Kings Island offers its associates the opportunity to apply for a scholarship during the season they are working.

Following an application and interview process, our Scholarship Committee selects associates to receive varying scholarships. Associates are considered on a basis of academic work, community involvement, performance as a Kings Island associate, and their individual interview.

All selected associates have already been granted their awards, and are now looking forward to an evening celebration where they will find out their specific scholarship amounts and enjoy an official celebration of their award.

Congratulations to all selected recipients and their proud families!

The Beast was originally designed to operate with four trains and fewer cars on each. However, after testing began, it was deemed that three trains with more cars were more effective and improved cycle times.

Hidden references in Kings Mills Antique Autos

When you bring the past back to the present, you should always bring extras and that’s exactly what Kings Island did with the Kings Mills Antique Autos. While retaining the original look of the Les Taxis ride which operated from 1972 to 2004, Kings Mills Antique Autos features many odes to past and present rides within the ride itself. Let’s start with the cars themselves. These four passenger autos are 2/3-scale replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T, obviously an ode to the original cars from Les Taxis.

A Walk in the Park at Kings Island: What am I doing this week?

What am I doing this week at Kings Island? Maybe I’ll write about all the fudge flavors that we offer, or maybe I’ll keep thinking of new scents for the nonexistent candle collection that Kings Island needs to get on board with. (Imagine “Cotton Candy on International Street” yum!) All jokes aside, that fudge idea doesn’t sound bad especially if I get to eat it all.
