The Swiss Sky Ride originally swung into action in 1965 at Cincinnati's Coney Island and was among the attractions transported to Kings Island in the fall of 1971.  The ride was built in Berne, Switzerland, by the Von Roll Company and operated at Kings Island from the park's opening in 1972 through the end of the 1979 season.

The center tower of the ride was 96 feet high.  The other two towers were 70 and 79 feet high.  The ride stretched 1,200 feet from Oktoberfest to what was then known as The Happy Land of Hanna-Barbera (now Planet Snoopy).  Passengers made the trip in one of the 38 brilliantly colored gondolas.   During its eight years of operation at Kings Island, The Swiss Sky Ride gave 12,273,796 rides.

The building for one the ride's two load and unload stations still stands and in use today as the Snoopy's Boutique gift shop in Planet Snoopy.

The Sky Ride is one of those "classic" attractions that King's Island could really use TODAY!! Any chance that the park would bring back something similar in the future?
