BOOMERANG BAY FAQ

 

How much is admission to Boomerang Bay?

Boomerang Bay is included FREE with park admission or a season pass.

Is there an admission ticket available just for Boomerang Bay or the main park?

Admission to Kings Island includes BOTH the main park and Boomerang Bay.

Do water slides have height requirements?

Many attractions have height requirements; water park measurements are taken in bare feet.

Are life jackets available?

Life jackets are available free of charge.  Guests can choose from various sizes of life-jacket at the storage racks by Great Barrier Reef, Koala Splash, Kookaburra Bay, and Pipeline Paradise.

Are life vests required?

A life vest is required for anyone who is less than 48" tall in bare feet or is an inexperienced or non-swimmer. Guests under 42" are required to wear lifejackets and be accompanied by a responsible person.

Are floatation devices permitted in Boomerang Bay?

Only U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets area allowed in Boomerang Bay.  Many brands of water wings, arm floats, and inner tubes are NOT approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and will not be permitted in Boomerang Bay.

Is there a separate gate for the water park that I can enter or do I have to go through the main park?

Guests may enter and exit Boomerang Bay through the water park entrance adjacent to the south side of the main parking lot.  Gold passholders will be permitted to enter a half hour prior to the water park opening.  The Boomerang Bay gate will remain open until the water park closes.  Guests may also access Boomerang Bay by walking down the Picnic Grove path or riding the Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad.

 

What type of attire is permitted in Boomerang Bay?

Appropriate swimwear must be worn while in Boomerang Bay.  Proper swimming attire is defined as one or two-piece suits without abrasive buttons, rivets, zippers, or snaps.

Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, drain holes, or metal ornamentation is not permitted on Boomerang Bay slides.

Swim masks that cover the nose and/or mouth are not permitted.

What type of training must lifeguards complete to work at Boomerang Bay?

Boomerang Bay lifeguards must complete the Ellis and Associate International Lifeguard Training Program; they maintain their skills by attending monthly in-service training throughout the season.

Boomerang Bay lifeguards participate in both daily audits with the Kings Island supervisors and monthly audits conducted by Ellis and Associate's national staff.  In addition to evaluations of scanning and life-saving skills, Kings Island administers Vigilance Awareness Training (VAT) tests during operation.  VAT tests involve the placement and indentification of a life-like mannequin in a lifeguard's zone during operating hours.
